About MileTrak
MileTrak is the brainchild of 16-year-old Anthony Rizos.
His childhood consisted of computer games, amateur radio, science fairs, and spelling bees until he began riding Amtrak in 1996. During the following summer, Anthony turned to the Internet to foster a blend of rail travel and information technology, and Amtrak Unlimited was born. Always keen to capitalize on fortuitous opportunity, he created the first version of MileTrak in April 2001, just before his 14th birthday.
Though the original version of MileTrak provided great utility to occasional travelers and seasoned railfans alike, certain aspects of Amtrak's train routing made the database difficult to maintain in its then-current format. MileTrak 1.0, the product available today, addresses the lack of finesse inherent in MileTrak 0.9, while offering an enhanced feature set. It should be noted that MileTrak 0.9 was released as a public beta and was never officially completed.
The MileTrak 1.0 system was built for free usage by rail enthusiasts through the MileTrak website; however, portions of it can be modularized for a variety of commercial applications. If you or your organization are interested in functionality similar to that available in MileTrak, please contact Inferential Development at 1-800-750-7545 for a quote.
Further development of this system is currently on hold pending a long-term digitalization of historical timetable data. More information to come in the months ahead. Thank you.
